Xiaomi has increased prices of Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, Mi LED TV 4C Pro 32-inch, Mi LED TV 4A Pro 49-inch and the 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i in India.
Xiaomi via its Redmi India Twitter handle has announced a price increase for five, including two of the new Redmi 6 phones. Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, Mi LED TV 4C Pro 32-inch, Mi LED TV 4A Pro 49-inch and the 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i Black will also see a hike in prices.
Xiaomi says that the reason for removal of the introductory prices is the weakening of Indian Rupee compared to US dollar, thus increasing the cost of the products for the company. When Xiaomi had launched the Redmi 6 series in India, it had warned that the prices were introductory and the company would likely increase them, given the macroeconomic factors.
The base Redmi 6A is available in two variants – 2GB RAM/16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM/32GB internal storage will get a price bump of Rs 600 and Rs 500 respectively. The 16GB internal storage variant will now sell for Rs 6,599 and the 32GB internal storage variant for Rs 7,499. Redmi 6 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage variant will see a price hike of Rs 500, and will now cost Rs 8,499.
Xiaomi is also increasing the prices of two of its smart LED televisions – Mi LED TV 4C Pro 32-inch, Mi LED TV 4A Pro 49-inch by Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000, respectively. Mi LED TV 4C Pro will now be priced at Rs 15,999 and Mi LED TV 4A Pro will cost Rs 31,999. Finally, the 10,000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i Black will be priced at Rs 899 seeing a price increase of Rs 100.
Xiaomi claims that they will never charge a profit margin exceeding five per cent on its device sales, to maintain that necessary price adjustments will be made time from time. They say this is done just to provide extremely competitive prices in the industry.
