Tips To Reduce Hair Loss

Losing thick, healthy hair and seeing it being replaced by scanty and thin hair is far from ideal

Hair loss, at best, is a disconcerting issue to have. With the change in seasons and pollution levels only rising, hair loss problems only seem to be going from bad to worse. It's a terrible conundrum for both men and women - but the loss of healthy locks is perhaps felt more gravely by the latter. Losing thick, healthy hair and seeing it being replaced by scanty and thin hair is far from ideal. But there are ways in which you can prevent and reduce hair loss and hair fall. Here are a few precautions to take and a few things you can do if the damage has already begun.

1. Eat enough protein

Protein is an important building block of bones, cartilage, skin and hair, amongst other things. Hair is essentially made from protein. Your body also uses protein to build and repair tissues and muscles. When the body does not get enough protein, it rations it by shutting down the production of non-essential protein, including hair growth.

In order to prevent further hair loss and fall, make sure to include plenty of proteins in your diet. Foods including dairy products, poultry, fish, meat, eggs and nuts are all good sources of protein. If you think you don't get to take in enough protein in a day, try including additional protein supplements to fulfill your requirements.

2. Get a head massage

At least once a week, make sure to massage your scalp with an essential oil. Coconut, almond, bhringraj or castor oil are all good options. The 5-10 minute head massage every week makes sure that your hair follicles remain active and that your scalp gets the much needed circulation required for hair growth.

3. Skip the warm water wash

We understand that bathing with warm water feels great, but when it comes to washing your hair, opt for lukewarm water. Warm water has a tendency to dry out your hair, hence also making them more prone to falling. It's best to end your hair wash with a cool or cold shower - it will help stimulate circulation at the hair roots.
